hey man big fan, so i used sgb i noticed that my hair doesnt work very well with soft pomade like that, i used layrite love it but what else is out there besides murray's that i could use. plus my hair is very wavy, thank you for your time hope all is well thanks again.
If you want something comparable to Murray’s (in terms of pomade weight,) then check out Dax Wave & Groom. Similar to Murray’s, but stronger, more malleable, and doesn’t leave a film in your hair (which is what makes Murray’s so difficult to wash out.)
I am currently sitting in sweltering 104 degree Atlanta weather and my Murray's is meltinggggg! What could I use that would give me the same hold as Murray's, without melting, easy to get, and not to expensive?
Dax Wave & Groom mixed with some Murray’s should hold for you. You can find Dax at CVS, Rite Aid, or even Sally’s.
Wassup Jan I have real thick hair do you known of a good pomade to use?Or a mix of pomades? Thanks
My personal favorite mix that holds really well in the heat and kept my wavy hair straight is Dax Wave & Groom mixed with Sweet Georgia Brown in the blue tin. You get the hold of both, malleability and shine from the Sweet Georgia Brown. Go with an 80/20 ratio.
hey man, I'm looking into growing out my hair for a pomp, the downside? Its growing out from a buzzed cut, its about a 1/2" long now and I'd like to avoid a weird phase while it grows out. So for now its parted on the left greased with a bit of Dax to keep the curls under control and when I say curls, I mean tight kinky curls. Do you think its going to be a problem, and do you have any recommendations as to a hairstyles I can cut it now to avoid the inevitable jew fro I tend to grow. -Gabe
Take a look at older pics of teens in the 50s, you’ll see TONS of pompadour hairstyles with super curly hair. Unless you use a straightener/chemical straightening, you won’t achieve a straight haired pomp. Make use of what you got! You can try to “train” your hair, by slicking it back tightly now. Your hair will start to get used to it and will make styling a lot easier for you down the line.
Hey, I love your blog and your site, The Rebel Rouser. I had a question about pomades. Iv been wearing my hair in a pomp for about 2 years now, and in all that time I have never been able to find the right product. Iv tried classic pomades such as murrays and sweet georgia brown, Iv tried water based pomades, hair sprays, gels, just about everything. I have pretty fine hair, and I suppose that goes into but I was wondering if you had any suggestions on product, thanks a ton man.
Check out Hairgum USA’s product line. It works well for my thick hair and should do wonders for your finer hair. They have a wide range of products, which is good. Personal favorite has to be Mr. Ducktail’s signature edition pomade; it just works so well in all conditions, for me!
The point of that? There’s a lesson to be learned, folks; be responsible for your actions. You’re a grown “woman,” a pregnant one, no less, and you’re lying an cutting people in line? A FAMILY, in line? You’re looking to start your own family soon, and that’s how you want to kick things off? By disrespecting another family?
She couldn’t even make eye contact with me, which is the first sign of a liar. And if a liar CAN look you directly in the eye, it’s a liar you want to stay away from. Because who knows what they’re capable of.
Does this type of shit mean I hate woman or pregnant woman? No. Uh, I have a kid, with a woman who was *cough* pregnant with my kid. Before any of you fuckers start… Pro-feminism has nothing to do with this sort of incident, it’s about common courtesy, which this bitch clearly has none of, and probably never shown any sort of common courtesy whatsoever, in whatever many years she’s been a bitch.
Why would I get offended by someone like this? Because their (obvious) lies, are implying that I’M a liar, when I’m a man of my word, as that’s all a man really has- his word. If anyone dares to call me a liar, in any which way, directly or indirectly, I will snap your shit in half.
And this is why, you don’t fuck with The Rebel Rouser.
What kind of pomade do you recommend for hot humid weather?
I personally suggest water-soluble stuff. With humid climates, there’s gonna be bugs. Would you want bugs stuck in the grease? No. Plus, extra sweating may musk the scent of the pomade, and you might end up smelling like sweat, even if you’ve taken a shower. Just a few things to consider.
Hey, I'm going to a music festival tomorrow and I finally got all the pomade out of my hair (murrays is a bitch). It's going to be hella hot and I'll be outside in direct sun for most of the day. Should I worry about putting pomade in my hair or would it melt?
Murray’s would definitely melt. Use Dax Wave & Groom, it holds up better in the heat, and is all around a better pomade. It’ll melt a bit, but not as badly as Murray’s would. You can find it at like CVS, Rite Aid, etc.
